Whether hiking from leisurely trails to high summits, theme trails, mountain biking, skiing, cross-country skiing and snow-shoe hiking: The Nock Mountains will be a fascinating experience in the green as well as in the white season. In the middle of it all, between Bad Kleinkirchheim and Feldkirchen in Carinthia, near Ebene Reichenau: the Hochrindl.

Why are the Nock Mountains called Nock Mountains? Their gentle, grass-covered hillocks, called “Nocken” in Austria, give them their name. A feast for the eyes and calming for the mind. This panorama will welcome you every single day when you blink into the distance from the balcony of your chalet. What a sight! It’s worth the journey to Hochrindl for that alone, where you can enjoy your individual holiday in the Nock Mountains and relax deeply.

Swap concrete for alpine meadow and your home for a mountain chalet. In the Nock Mountains, the clocks still go a little bit slower and the Hochrindl is an island of peace away from tourist masses on the mountain in Carinthia. Located at 1,500 metres above sea level, the heat can barely touch you and those who still fancy a dip, head down to the lake district: the blue Wörther See, only one of Carinthia’s lakes, can be reached in about 50 minutes. Ideal for a summer holidays in the Nock mounatins.

But if you would like to feel water you can also go to the pool which is exclusively for our guests in the chalets. In the surrounding of the mountain chalets you can explore the alpine region: Hiking, running, mountain biking from the doorstep or even golf - your desire to move will know no limits. Family-friendly trails, impressive summit tours and panoramic hikes along ridges will lead vacationers through the unique landscape with its gentle, grass-green hillocks. Thanks to the mild climate long tours are already possible from early summer.

Winter holidays in the Nock Mountains

Winter also knows how to enchant in the Nock Mountains in Carinthia: As soon as the snowflakes form a solid snow cover, the ski lift is the place to go. The family-friendly ski area on the Hochrindl with its 20 kilometres of slopes is rustic and popular with young and old. A ski school including a rental service is also on site. And there is more: Winter fun can also be found on the floodlit tobogganing runs, during winter hiking or Bavarian curling. To warm up, head to one of the huts where fragrant Carinthian specialties are served. This is why holidaymakers and day guests like the Hochrindl so much: It’s simply a winter holiday the traditional Carinthian way.
